Palm is investing
Palm is investing in a new recycled containerboard machine at its headquarters in Aalen, Germany.
Groundbreaking for the new 750,000 tonne Aalen PM5 took place 7th June 2019. The €500m project is due to run until 2022 and incorporates the paper machine, a new biological waste water treatment, finished goods and raw material warehouses and a combined heat and power plant (CHP).
Aalen PM5 will be a state-of-the-art machine for lightweight corrugated case material (RCCM). It will use 100% sorted recycled fibres and be a leader in environmentally friendly paper production.
At a design speed of 2,000m/min in combination with a trimmed machine width of 10.9m, Aalen PM5 will produce 750,000 tonnes of lightweight testliner and fluting in a basis weight range of 60 – 100 gsm.
